Interesting Property

2 min read

Featured on Grand Designs this property in Devon cause a divorce and many years of pain and suffering for the owners who tried to turn their dream into a reality.

I know, I am a little late to the party on this one. It has to be one the most talked about properties recently but if nothing else I wanted to do an article on the property so I could at least refer people back to it in years to come as "that property".

Background

Over ten years ago Edward Short and his now ex-wife Hazel set out to build their dream home, something that was to be a spectacular undertaking in a spectacular location. It is no wonder Grand Designs were interested in looking at it.

But it all went wrong. Building costs soared, the family were close to bankruptcy, and the couple split eventually divorcing. The property lay empty and was a building site for many years. But eventually, Edward did it, the property is finished and finally up for sale.

I won't say more than that, so many have no doubt followed the story as it has been featured in the press so often.

The location

The location is stunning. Sitting right on the coast within 3 acres of land which also includes a private beach. There are some of the best views over Croyde Beach and Saunton Sands.

The property

Starting with a cantilevered bridge acting as a driveway down to the garage where the scale of the property becomes clear. It is clean, and modern and has that intended lighthouse feel to it. With an infinity pool to capture those views and plenty of balcony space on all levels to get the most out of sunny days (when we get them) it certainly has a calming effect to it.

I personally like the clean decor throughout, there are a lot of spaces that have many uses, the choice is yours.

The marketing material suggests "newly constructed" which is a bit of a stretch given we all know that is far from the truth. what they mean is "recently completed". That said I will let the images speak for themselves.

Marketing

If you are interested the property is being sold by Knight Frank, you can find it here. The property has a guide price of £10m.

Having worked in the mortgage industry for over 20 years I have always wanted to build a website dedicated to the subject. Also being a geek when it comes to the internet all I needed was time and I could both build the site from scratch and fill it with content. This is it!
